About the Job:
DWM is seeking a Vice President and Relationship Manager (VP/RM) for its Latin America debt team who will join a growing number of finance professionals with a strong social mission and commitment to sustainable economic development. The Latin America VP/RM will develop and execute the firm’™s fixed income strategy for the region, assist the firm in developing and marketing all the firm’s products in the region, and lead the management of Latin American client debt relationships. The incumbent will report directly to the partner in charge of debt investments and supervises the other members of the Latin America debt team.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Developing a strategy to originate and execute on socially positive debt transactions throughout Latin America;
  • Building out a Latin America debt portfolio for DWM-managed investment vehicles designed to maximize social and financial impact in the region as well as profitability to the firm;
  • Originating, maintaining, and expanding client debt relationships in Latin America;
  • Liaison with the risk, fund management, equity, and capital markets teams on debt transactions involving Latin America;
  • Performing and/or supervising the performance of due diligence, credit analysis, and financial analysis;
  • Preparing and/or supervising the preparation of debt investment proposals for Latin America;
  • Assisting in the development of new debt products for the region;
  • Assisting in and/or supervising the preparation of transaction documents;
  • Planning and participating in regional marketing trips and attending conferences;
  • Researching special projects and presenting results.
  • Management responsibilities include:
    • Assigning work to and supervising the work of the other members of the Latin America debt team;
    • Designing a professional development plan for these team members;
    • In coordination with the incumbent’s manager, preparing annual performance reviews for the other Latin America debt team members, and making salary, bonus and promotion recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • College or graduate degree, ideally with a financial or business related concentration. MBA or equivalent is preferred;
  • At least five years’ experience in or with any of the relevant countries in investment banking, corporate finance, and/or deal-oriented financial analysis.  Preference for experience in international development, socially responsible investing, and/or a local, specialized microfinance rating agency;
  • Strong ability to conduct financial and credit analysis;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills;
  • Solid organizational & time management skills;
  • Ability to represent the firm with potential and actual clients including extensive travel to the relevant countries;
  • Demonstrated social commitment;
  • Full written and spoken fluency in Spanish and, ideally, Portuguese;
  • Proof of ability to work in the US.
