About the Job:
VisionFund is seeking a Senior Financial Specialist – Asia who will support the finance team in the selection, development, and implementation of new data management systems and development of analysis processes. S/he will take direction from the director of finance and work closely with the financial planning & analysis manager, controller and reporting manager. The incumbent will identify and mitigate risk in the financial processes at individual MFIs around the globe. As management identifies an MFI that is at risk, this role will work locally to identify the source(s) of any problems. After the initial assessment, this person will recommend a course of action and implement it in conjunction with other VFI staff (finance, IT, and operations), MFI management and staff. This position can be located anywhere within the Asia region.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with MFI staff to develop or enhance a system to prepare financial statements in an expeditious, efficient and cost effective manner. Align International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with US GAAP and ensure financial staff understand and operate under the respective requirements;
  • Assist in training staff with the preparation of periodic financial reports for management, the board and World Vision in compliance with all legal requirements, professional standards, local statutes and in ways consistent with good Christian stewardship;
  • Assist in the integration of computer systems including playing a leadership role in the installation of electronic accounting software for the MFI’s if required;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a budgeting, forecasting and reporting process for the MFI’s in accordance to VisionFund requirements. Developing systems and providing training as required in this area;
  • Develop and implement financial accounting and internal control procedures and. Help to streamline accounting complexity, which arises due to multiple stakeholders, and processes;
  • Develop financial processes in conjunction with the MFI and in accordance with established VisionFund policies.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably minimum 10 years banking and/or technology and/or auditing background, including project management. Good communication and relational skills in both oral and written forms;
  • Effective ability to train people on policies and procedures formally and informally;
  • Must be experienced in use of database software systems and Excel;
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage multiple priorities and projects;
  • Must be culturally sensitive;
  • Flexibility on hours to contact people within wide time zone differences is required;
  • Fully Fluent in English;
  • Able to travel internationally 30% of the time;
  • Someone with project management skills and from within Asia preferred.
