About the Organization:
Women’s World Banking (WWB) is an international network of 39 MFIs in 27 countries to bring financial services and information to low-income entrepreneurs. Its mission is to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of poor women as entrepreneurs and economic agents by opening their access to finance, knowledge and markets. It seeks to alleviate global poverty by expanding the economic assets, participation, and power of the poor, especially women.

Background
Women’s World Banking conducts extensive research of low-income women around the world. This project focuses on needs of women micro-entrepreneurs in the context of political upheaval.

About the Job:
WWB is looking for Media Relations Consultant to begin this project mid-January with experience crafting creative pitches to business, political, and gender press. WWB staff will be available to brief the hired consultant on the project and available for media interviews. This project may lead to ongoing work with WWB.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop target media list;
  • Create pitch based on inputs from Women’s World Banking;
  • Contact media and generate interest in features or inputs in existing stories, as well as interviews with WWB CEO;
  • Progress reports as well as project conclusion report including media coverage obtained.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in delivering high-quality media results in business, political, or gender press;
  • Strong writer;
  • Ability to ascertain nuggets of information and communicate effectively.
