About the Organization:
Women’s World Banking (WWB) is an international network of 39 MFIs in 27 countries to bring financial services and information to low-income entrepreneurs. Its mission is to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of poor women as entrepreneurs and economic agents by opening their access to finance, knowledge and markets. It seeks to alleviate global poverty by expanding the economic assets, participation, and power of the poor, especially women.
Project funding detail
WWB has received a grant (herein after called “Funds”) from the Inter-American Development Bank (herein after called “Bank”) toward the cost of the project. WWB intends to apply a portion of the funds to eligible payments under the contract for which this Request is issued. Payments by the Bank will be made only at the request of WWB and upon approval by the Bank in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Grant agreement between WWB and the Bank and will be subject in all respects to the terms and conditions of the Grant Contract. No party other than WWB shall derive any rights from the Grant Contract or have any claim to the funds. WWB takes on full responsibility for compliance with grant requirements for the bank and other funders of the project.
Eligibility
The Inter American Development Bank (IDB), which is a project funder, requires an eligible respondent to meet a residency requirement from the following country list, posted on the IDB website.
About the Job:
WWB is looking for writers with expertise in one or more of the following areas: publications, blog posts, website copy, executive speeches, newsletters, fundraising communications or articles. Sample projects may include: drafting new copy for the WWB website, writing a case study on WWB work with a partner organization, editing a publication.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Draft or edit articles ranging in length from 500-5,000 words (note: this may include short blogs or lengthy articles);
- Edit with an eye for the big picture and ask relevant questions;
- Craft introductions, conclusions, and transitions as needed;
- Ensure that there is an organizational structure to documents that makes a clear argument;
- Adopt our organizational tone;
- Rewrite for clarity and remove jargon, making adjustments for audience;
- Take work written by several researchers and mold it into a coherent report that is consistent throughout;
- Copyedit for grammar and accuracy;
- Adhere to a style guide.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in journalism or a related field in which writing, editing, and proofreading were the primary responsibilities;
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks;
- Be able to get up to speed quickly on microfinance and WWB’s work;
- Qualified candidates will be given a writing test;
- Familiarity with writing on microfinance or economic development topics preferred;
- Candidates fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.
