Friends-International (FI) is a social enterprise that works with marginalized urban children and youth, their families, and communities to become productive, independent citizens of their country. It has been assisting marginalized urban children and youth across the world since 1994. It runs and supports projects for these children and their families in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Honduras, Mexico, Egypt, and Myanmar.
About the Job:
FI is looking for a Research Consultant – Social Business. S/he will work under FI management to conduct market research in Cairo. The position is limited to 6 weeks with potential to extend into the consecutive business planning phase of the project if the candidate’s background and experience prove suitable for this phase.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct a qualitative and quantitative research, which involve interviews, meetings, and field research;
- Collect and analyze data in order to have an overview of the market environment in the sector of specific recycled products: potential customers, competitive landscape, material suppliers, possible product substitutes, technology, required skill sets, and training needs;
- Organize meeting with relevant stakeholders (private companies, potential clients, industry bodies etc.);
- Report regularly about the mission progress and findings to FI’s project manager (based in South East Asia);
- Write and present a final report with the findings including recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Marketing, Market Research or Business/Management;
- At least 4 years of work experience in market research or consultancy;
- Knowledge of the local market environment a plus;
- Excellent analytical skills and strong communication skills;
- Business awareness and creativity;
- Independent, organized, and ability to work under pressure in a multicultural environment;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Arabic (spoken);
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint).
