About the Organization:
PlaNet Finance China (PFC) is the representative office in Beijing of the international NGO, PlaNet Finance. PFC is dedicated to poverty alleviation through the development of the Chinese microfinance industry. It provides technical assistance and consulting services to the microfinance and banking sector and engages in Microfinance Plus projects with a focus on issues such as rural development, healthcare, renewable energy, and job training.
About the Job:
PFC is looking for a Project Intern. It is a six-month, part-time, and unpaid position. S/he will work in Beijing office and will report directly to the project director.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with project-related activities such as desk research, translations, and report writing;
- Translate various documents, including proposals, reports or news articles (both Chinese to English and English to Chinese);
- Write features for the microfinance risk management blog on a variety of topics including project update, interview, and industry trends;
- Research Chinese microfinance news and stay current on global microfinance trends;
- Provide administrative support as needed;
- Support in tasks related to microfinance advisory projects.
Qualifications:
- Native speaker of Chinese with advanced skills in English (foreign candidates with strong Chinese skills and experience can be considered on an individual basis);
- Past experience in high-quality translations;
- Interest in microfinance and China’s development a plus;
- Excellent organizational, communication, writing, proofreading, and research skills;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Should be available to commit at least 3 full-days per week.
