About the Organization:
CARE International is a leading development and humanitarian charity supporting the poorest communities in 84 countries around the world. Their aim is to bring sustainable and innovative solutions to complex poverty issues and last year they supported 1015 poverty-fighting projects that reached more than 122 million people. CARE’s mission is to create lasting change in poor communities. Background Financial Inclusion is a key theme in CARE International UK’s Private Sector Engagement approach. Building on the success of the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) methodology – now established globally- the Financial Inclusion portfolio has grown significantly in the last two years and we have ambitious targets for the future.

About the Job:
CARE International is seeking a Programme Officer to join their Private Sector Engagement Team working in the financial inclusion area. The incumbent’s will be offered a salary of £28,588 Per Annum Pro Rata. This is an 18 months fixed term contract.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development and delivery of the financial inclusion portfolio across the globe working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure this happens to a high quality, in a timely manner and with impact;
  • Work closely with technical program advisors and colleagues in country offices and in the UK as well as during program visits overseas.

Qualifications:

  • Experience of NGO work and a good understanding of key concepts in microfinance/financial inclusion and of their application in development programs;
  • Strong interest in, and some knowledge of the debate around the role of the private sector can play in poverty alleviation;
  • Good communicator, with excellent project management and coordination skills.
