Accion is a private, nonprofit organization that provides microloans and other financial services to low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs who are unable to access bank credit for their small businesses. It is dedicated to providing microentrepreneurs and individuals on the economic margin with the crucial chance to access capital and develop greater financial literacy.
About the Job:
ACCION USA is looking for a Microlending Intern. S/he will work closely with loan consultants to grow and strengthen the lending portfolio. From the beginning of the micro lending process, the Intern will provide outreach and intake while assisting in the stages of document collection and final disbursal.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist potential clients by providing them with information about Accion's products and services and helping them complete the loan application and collect required documentation;
- After intensive training on risk and financial analysis, assess prospective borrowers’ ability and willingness to take a business loan;
- Play an active role in this growing organization, by participating in cross-departmental projects such as outreach to new clients and technical assistance for borrowers.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required;
- Commitment to microfinance and economic development;
- Flexibility and willingness to learn;
- Understanding of business financial and accounting concepts;
- Previous work experience preferred;
- Computer proficiency required.
