About the Organization:
The Microfinance Information Exchange, Inc. (MIX) is a non profit organization incorporated in June 2002, with headquarters in Washington, DC. It is a leading business information provider dedicated to strengthening the microfinance sector. The organization’s core focus is to provide objective data and analysis on microfinance providers. MIX provides detailed financial and social performance information from MFIs, as well as business information from market facilitators and leading donor organizations and investors in microfinance.
About the Job:
MIX is looking for an Intern – Market Intelligence to support the work of MIX’s market intelligence (MI). S/he will work with the market intelligence lead and MIX’s global team of analysts to prepare and write reports on the microfinance sectors of select countries.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Digest analysis performed by global analyst team and compose short articles;
- Converse with MIX analysts in foreign offices to understand the main issues;
- Perform supplementary analysis as needed;
- Support other publication tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- BA in Economics, Finance, Accounting/Auditing, or relevant field;
- Current enrollment in a Masters degree program;
- Basic knowledge of microfinance and one or more microfinance sectors;
- Experience working in microfinance related fields, preferred;
- Experience in financial analysis, audit, or accounting;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (data entry, functions, PivotTables), Word, and PowerPoint;
- Experience working efficiently and accurately with large databases;
- Fluency in written and spoken English;
- International experience preferred;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
