About the Job:
Accion International is looking for a Fundraising Events/Communications Intern. S/he will support the MicroBike team. The Intern will work on outreach to MicroBike volunteers, assist in prospecting, and fundraising efforts, and help to publicize the event through social media, local listings, and other channels. S/he will assist teams in planning their rides and answer participant questions. S/he will support administrative tasks and overall project management, such as maintaining the MicroBike calendar, data entry, participant mailings, and collateral and prize distribution. Additionally, s/he will provide support for resource development team, including assisting with event research and planning.This position is part-time and unpaid.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with research, outreach, and tracking of partner and sponsorship opportunities;
- Assist with social media outreach and publicity for MicroBike event;
- Help with recruitment and outreach to college students and other potential supporters;
- Coordinate mailings and maintain calendar of project milestones;
- Correspond with teams and answer questions regarding the event;
- Assist team with record keeping and organization.
Qualifications:
- Must be a student pursuing a bachelor's degree;
- Availability: 7 to 15 hours per week;
- Excellent attention to detail and experience with online research;
- Interest in microfinance and Accion's mission;
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required;
- Ability to read and understand Spanish is desirable, but not required;
- Interest in biking desirable, but not required.
