About the Job:
MEDA is looking for a Finance Sector Specialist – Access to Finance, Uganda. S/he will be responsible to deliver technical advisory services to Ugandan MFIs, banks, and/or meso-level organizations.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Advising MFIs and banks in product development and operations;
- Supporting financial sector market research initiatives;
- Research and development of new financial products and services;
- Managing a small local team of financial sector professionals;
- Designing and managing client-side interventions (financial literacy, management) as required.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Management, Economics, etc.;
- Proven track record of at least 5 years of experience preferably in Uganda managing large-scale programs in financial sector development, microfinance, access to finance, or private sector development;
- Technical knowledge of financial institution capacity building methods and « making markets work for the poor » approach;
- Excellent and demonstrable skills in building relationships, coordinating diverse stakeholders, and interpersonal communication;
- Verbal and written fluency in English, with demonstrated technical report-writing abilities;
- Knowledge of DFID procurement procedures is an advantage;
- Preference will be given to Ugandan nationals.
