About the Job:
FINCA International is looking for an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Consultant. S/he will play a crucial role in implementing a large-scale initiative to strengthen FINCA's enterprise risk management systems. The consultant will work under the direction of FINCA'€™s global risk manager, global risk management analyst, and in collaboration with permanent staff and other external consultants.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct a guided subsidiary self-assessment of non-operational risks, this will include the design of a targeted questionnaire and guidance with respect to its execution;
- Prepare a report describing and analyzing FINCA’s current approach to managing non-operational risks, report should highlight critical issues and sources of vulnerability;
- Collaborate with FINCA staff to develop a standardized approach to credit risk management including processes, policies, and training material for post-mortem analysis;
- Research and develop an implementation plan for a credit risk management Knowledge Management System to retain all associated policies, guidelines, handbooks, and reports and to create a discussion forum;
- Analyze FINCA’s current approach to market risk management and propose an improvement plan;
- Develop comprehensive risk maps (in coordination with an ORM specialist) for each FINCA subsidiary;
- Propose guidelines for the definition of enterprise-wide risk tolerance and risk appetite. Help FINCA staff to develop a comprehensive risk management strategy;
- Create a detailed plan for the integration of risk management topics into FINCA’s committee, meeting, and reporting structures, this should include proposed agendas and report templates;
- Help to further define the optimal ERM organizational structure for FINCA HQ, hub offices, and subsidiaries; this should include staffing recommendations, job descriptions, and a clear division of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree mandatory. Master's degree in Finance, Business, or Engineering and/or professional risk certification preferred;
- Substantial experience in enterprise risk management, preferably in a banking environment, and understanding of industry best practice (e.g. COSO, Basel II);
- Broad knowledge of microfinance products and operations;
- Strong ability to identify risks and mitigating controls;
- Demonstrated ability to develop recommendations with supporting information;
- Strong project management skills;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken), fluency/proficiency in Russian, French, and/or Spanish desired;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint;
- Ability to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
