One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization started in January 2006 with the goal of completely rethinking how to solve the chronic hunger problem in Africa. It creates farmer-focused solutions. One Acre Fund's core service package for farmers include: group formation, education, seed and fertilizer delivery, flexible payments (credit or sales), and market access.
About the Job:
One Acre Fund is looking for an Associate Controller. S/he will be responsible for managing whole accounting system and bookkeepers who work with it. S/he will be providing critical input on One Acre Fund's finance strategies and budgeting. S/he will report to the finance director.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage and train bookkeepers;
- Help creating reports from organization's accounting and client management systems;
- Help managing the internal audit teams responsible for monitoring the movement of assets within the organization;
- Manage the books closing process for Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and the US books. Ensure proper accounting entries, bank reconciliations, and a variety of other quality controls.
Qualifications:
- Top-performing undergraduate background;
- Experience in finance, accounting, or other technical profession;
- General familiarity with accounting;
- English required, French desirable;
- Computer skills: highly competent in Excel, working knowledge of Access.
