Fundacion Capital is a regional non-profit organization that promotes and develops public policy for reducing poverty through asset building and financial inclusion. In particular, Fundacion Capital's goal is to facilitate access to diverse formal financial services and to design instruments that encourage productive investment on the part of low-income people and families in Latin America and the Caribbean.
About the Job:
Fundacion Capital is seeking a full-time Behavioral Economist and/or Anthropologist to support the implementation of Proyecto Capital, a project designed to enable and expand the financial inclusion of conditional cash transfer (CCT) program beneficiaries through savings mobilization. CCT programs are public programs that give monetary resources to poor households on the condition that they send children to school and take them for regular health check-ups.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on financial behavior of CCT beneficiaries;
- Improve the design of a financial education program;
- Test incentives to savings schemes;
- Provide input on designing savings products for CCT recipients;
- Contribute to the formulation of project documents in each of the countries where Proyecto Capital will be implemented.
Qualifications:
- Professional experience in behavioral economics;
- Proven track record of conducting applied field research;
- Knowledge of social protection and/or microfinance is a plus;
- Ability to relate to different types of audiences: senior government officials, operational staff, and people living in poverty;
- Excellent interpersonal relations, ability to develop and maintain cordial and respectful relationships;
- Listening skills and ability to work in a group;
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time;
- Fluency in Spanish and advanced facility with English.
