About the Job:
The SEEP Network is looking for an Online Communications Intern who will work with member affairs and global communication team. S/he will help SEEP boost its online presence and assist with web page and content development as well as graphic design. S/he will report to the communication manager. The internship is based in Arlington, VA.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with webpage development and quality control on SEEP's website and WordPress-based blog;
- Assisting with the development and implementation of new interactive community for the SEEP Network;
- Optimize web content for search engines;
- Assist with maintaining activity on SEEP's social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube;
- Research on web tools and implement web 2.0 tools such as mash-ups, and flash maps, and timelines;
- Produce reports on Web analytics;
- Support communications about SEEP’s annual conference in November;
- Help promote SEEP, specific reports, and products in particular, on other websites, including social networking sites and blogs. Test new forums and technologies to build the audience for SEEP;
- Assist with assembling SEEP's monthly and quarterly newsletters;
- Updating SEEP's online CRM platform;
- Imagine and create graphics for publication and website display;
- Work related to other areas of the organization can be requested (as need and time permits). Some data support will be required.
Qualifications:
- Experience with content management systems, graphic, and web design;
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and WordPress;
- Video editing or print design experience will be a plus;
- Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and website management are a plus;
- Strong written and verbal skills;
- Spanish language ability is highly desired;
- Must be a web-savvy with high interest in international microfinance;
- Should have strong work ethic. S/he should be a self-starter with a positive attitude who can take on projects with minimal supervision.
