Together with the affected communities we work on the recovery of their livelihoods.
Purpose of the position
In May 2012 ZOA decided to respond to the developing humanitarian crisis in Yemen. ZOA has the intention to become actively involved for 3 years. The main focus of the programme will be to support displaced communities in northern Yemen. Target areas are Hajjah and Sana’a district. ZOA will work alongside local partners where most of the actual implementation will be done by the partners. Creating and strengthening of local capacity is important element of the programme.
Key task and responsibilities during the first year
• Develop the capacity of local partners in Yemen.
• Design the details of the programme and underlying projects for the next 3 years. These should be in line with the existing Disaster Response Operations Plan for Yemen.
• Supervise the implementation of the programme.
• Ensure official ZOA registration and, following this, establish a small support office in Sana’a.
• Establish and maintain relationships with relevant Yemeni government officials, (potential) donors and other development actors.
• The country representative provides leadership to 1-10 employees
• The country representative will cooperate closely with the Disaster Response Unit at HQ.
• The country representative will be accountable to Disaster Response Unit team leader at HQ.

• Being a Christian adhering to the Christian identity of ZOA
• The candidate is expected to fully support the vision and mission of ZOA
Knowledge / Experience
• Relevant educational university background
• At least five years relevant work experience in similar context
• At least five years of relevant management experience in an international setting
• Pioneering qualities (taking initiative, self starter)
• Good spoken and written command of English
• Spoken and written command of Arabic is preferred
• The candidate preferably has a minimum age of 35 years
