About the Organization:
InVenture was founded on the principle of creating a more transparent and fair financial ecosystem. InVenture connects individuals and households requiring financing above microfinance to the formal financial market, and has also developed a mobile text-based financial tracking tool called InSight. Through financing in combination with money management tools, InVenture is helping to lift individuals and business owners to a new level of commerce while creating jobs within their communities. Its mission is to unleash the potential of developing entrepreneurs to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty by leveraging mobile technology to create credit scores for unbanked individuals around the world.
About the Job:
InVenture is looking for a Fellow to work closely with the Indian team as well as the InVenture US team members to achieve its mission. The primary purpose of the fellow will be to help deploy InVenture's mobile application, InSight, and to help with expanding our India operations as well as delivering to our current financial partners.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance in sourcing end users of InSight conducting data collection, interviews, and analysis of current business;
- Take an active role in developing and maintaining relationships with InVenture field partners and entrepreneurs;
- Identify NGO partners with communities in need of financing support and connect them with InVenture India team and financial institutions;
- Facilitate training and workshops on InSight application;
- Follow up and maintain database of records from InSight users;
- Social performance metric analysis;
- Interview InSight users on best practices and usage and report findings to product developer;
- Help in designing and deploying new pilots of InSight into the field in coordination with India operations team;
- Maintain an open and constant stream of communication with end users to ensure proper reporting;
- Keep weekly blogs on website.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Economics, Public Administration, Finance, or related fields;
- Attending U.S. or India based University or living in India;
- Self-starter, positive and entrepreneurial, taking ownership;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Ability to relate to disparate audiences: high-level public officials, operations personnel, and individuals facing conditions of poverty;
- Ability to travel throughout India, specifically throughout North Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other cities as needed.
- Fellows must make a commitment of at least 6 – 12 months (preference will be given to longer stays);
- Fluency in English required and Tamil, Hindi and/or Kannada proficiency preferred.
