Janalakshmi is a group of organizations that operate through a multi-tier institutional set-up. Janalakshmi Social Services (JSS) is a non-profit, Section 25 company focused on urban inclusion, Janalakshmi Financial Services Private Limited (JFS) is an NBFC-MFI focused on financial inclusion, and Janaadhar Constructions Pvt. Ltd. builds low cost, high quality housing offered at price points that are sustainable and affordable. Through this two-pronged strategy and diversified solutions, the Janalakshmi Group aims to transform the lives of the urban low income segment and support their transition towards asset-building and financial viability.
Background:
JSS is gearing up to address the multiple facets of exclusion including microfinancing and other activities promoting the development and economic well being of the target base. JSS’s endeavor is to constantly understand the world of the urban excluded customer base and look out for opportunities that are central to inclusion. Once an opportunity is identified, and wherever market based solutions can be worked out, JSS can incubate and catalyze the model especially in the areas of financial and housing inclusion. Once the models are sustainable and scalable and ready to deliver on the promise of the opportunity, these shall be taken forward by the operating companies. Its vision is to setup platforms or participate in platforms for dissemination and discussions on issues of urban inclusions among policy makers, researchers, and practitioners. It is setting up a Research and Advocacy group to fulfill on this vision.
About the Job:
Janalakshmi is seeking a Head Research & Advocacy who will be responsible for the research and policy initiatives in the urban inclusion landscape. It includes the delivery of current and potential research revolving around various aspects of urban inclusion and focusing on advocacy work in the areas of financial inclusion, housing, and MSME inclusion.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in applied research;
- Preferably, a PhD or a Master’s degree.
