About the Organization:
Women’s World Banking (WWB) is an international network of 39 MFIs in 27 countries to bring financial services and information to low-income entrepreneurs. Its mission is to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of poor women as entrepreneurs and economic agents by opening their access to finance, knowledge and markets. It seeks to alleviate global poverty by expanding the economic assets, participation, and power of the poor, especially women.

Background
WWB’s past and emerging new strategy has as its primary strategic objective the development of women-focused products and services. This strategy is heavily predicated on the assumption that there is a business case for serving women. WWB believes there is a strong double-bottom line business case for MFIs to focus on effectively serving women customers and promoting gender-diverse, meritocratic institutions, so as to ultimately demonstrate enhanced financial and social returns. In order to achieve this, WWB and its funders and partners plan to develop, track, and analyze more robust gender-based social performance indicators.

About the Job:
WWB is looking for Data Analytics Consultant to provide technical expertise and conduct data analysis related to the WWB Gender Performance Initiative. The consultant will work with WWB to analyze microfinance datasets and provide feedback on the development of a gender-based indicator framework. The consultant will be responsible for the extraction and analysis of appropriate data in order to test the effectiveness of various indicators. The consultant will also be responsible for the integration and institutionalization of data into reporting mechanisms.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with internal MFI team, ensure the efficient and effective extraction of all the necessary data for analysis, test data for accuracy and reliability;
  • Conduct a detailed statistical analysis of the data as it pertains to the gender-specific hypotheses and indicators developed by the WWB team;
  • Conduct an analysis of new indicators, testing their appropriateness and validity;
  • Map out a strategy for the collection of indicators that may not be currently collected by the MFI;
  • Support WWB team in developing processes and templates for the collection of new indicators;
  • Integrate data into new reports or improvement of existing ones to ensure operational functionality and utility of data and analysis;
  • Provide project narratives on progress for donor reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and Graduate degree in Econometrics or Statistics;
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in statistics and data analysis, particularly in the microfinance field;
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in microfinance and/or retail services;
  • Experience with social performance highly desirable;
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills required.
